What to include
A copyright notice should include:
- Your physical or electronic signature as the rights holder or authorized representative.
- The copyrighted work, or a representative list of works.
- The material you are reporting and its exact page address.
- Contact details sufficient to reach you.
- A statement of your good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the owner, an agent or the law.
- A statement that the information is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act for the owner.
See the U.S. Copyright Office’s Section 512 guidance for its official requirements. Please include only information needed to identify and assess your report.
Review and removal
We remove access to reported material within 24 hours of receiving a copyright notice and record the action for review. We may request clarification to identify the material or assess the notice. This is a removal procedure, not a promise of a legal determination within 24 hours.
Repeatedly infringing titles or sources will be excluded from the catalog. General reports about broken controls or incorrect descriptions can be sent through Contact; those enquiries receive a response within 48 hours.
